#NewComicBookDay Week 3 – Jan 18th, 2017

#NewComicBookDay for January 18th, 2017. This week was a big week of book releases featuring Jeff Lemire’s Black Hammer Giant Sized-Annual #1 which features many character threads all done by different comic book artists such as Michael Alred, Matt Kindt & cover art by Jeff Lemire! I am stoked to meet Jeff and get him to sign his new hit ‘Black Hammer’ series, as well as his storybook & vinyl album project ‘Secret Path’ with Tragically Hip front man Gord Downie.

This weeks pulls include:

Marvel dropped a monster of a book with Monsters Unleashed #1 (I had to pick up the Francavilla variant because his covers look great for this series) and Cage! ending with issue #4, the fun little Genndy Tartakovsky story.

Batman #15 & Superman #15 dropped and I have never been this excited to read a Superman comic as it brings in Grant Morrison’s DC Multiversity.

Justice League #13 & Justice League vs. Suicide Squad #5 released today with one last week of this event to go.

Young Animal put out issue #4 of Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye featuring a fun backstory about Etrigan The Angel? Pick this book up to find out more.

Dark Horse dropped Black Hammer Giant-Sized Annual #1 the last issue of this books first arc. Such a stellar series, pick up the first volume of this releasing soon!

IDW released TMNT Universe #6 which has been a cool turtles sub-series story.

Valiant released Harbinger Renegades #3 and another great tie-in issue to Divinity III, Aric Son of The Revolution #1. This book only three issues deep has been a compelling alternate history of the world where Russia takes over and features the vast Valiant universe characters all under Russian oppression/rule. Really cool and new reader friendly.

Image Comics dropped the new Curse Words #1 which I have yet to figure out what this book is about, but judging by the B cover of issue #1 (art by Scotty Young) it’s a badass magical universe worthy of taking a piss on Harry Potter lol.

Discover a new universe or delve into a universe you want to re-discover, there are comics out there for everyone. Visit your local comic book shop #LCS today!
